JAKARTA, Globalnetwork.id– Singapore International School (SIS) marked its 30th anniversary with the launch of a new campus in Indonesia’s Jakarta City, underscoring its regional expansion and continued focus on globally oriented education.
The new SIS North East Jakarta (SIS NEJ Lake Side Campus), unveiled on Thursday, April 10, 2026, represents a strategic move to broaden access to international education in Southeast Asia’s largest economy.
Founded in 1996 by Jaspal Sidhu, SIS has grown from a single campus in South Jakarta into a regional education network spanning multiple countries across Asia.
“Thirty years ago, SIS was founded with a simple but powerful vision to provide affordable, high-quality international education,” Sidhu said at the event. “Today, as we celebrate this milestone and launch SIS North East Jakarta, we reaffirm our commitment to reimagining the future of education and preparing students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.”
The institution offers a combination of international curricula, including the Singapore curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, positioning itself within the premium but increasingly competitive private education segment.
The newly launched campus is designed to integrate academic instruction with character development, aligning with SIS’s broader philosophy of producing globally minded graduates.
Managing Director Aditya Shah said the expansion reflects both physical growth and evolving educational standards.
“The move to our new campus and the transition to SIS North East Jakarta represent more than just physical expansion; it reflects our commitment to continuously evolve and provide an internationally benchmarked learning environment,” he said.
The anniversary event, themed “30 Years of SIS: Reflecting on Our Roots, Reimagining the Future of Education,” highlighted the group’s focus on digital transformation, global collaboration, and student-centered learning models.
Over three decades, SIS has positioned itself as a regional player in private education by building a cross-border academic network, facilitating access to global universities, and maintaining a focus on affordability within the international school segment.
The Jakarta expansion comes amid rising demand for international education in Indonesia, driven by a growing middle class and increasing emphasis on global competencies.
As SIS enters its fourth decade, the group said it will continue to prioritize innovation, regional expansion, and the development of students equipped to navigate global economic and social challenges.
